Spam. Do you allow spam?

No. We are very anti-spam.

Spam is the name given to bulk unsolicited email, generally sent by unscrupulous email marketing firms.

Generally, if you're not sure what you're sending is spam, or not, it's probably spam. Don't send it. You're risking your account with us.

Why are we so anti-spam? Because we care about our reputation. In this case, reputation is essential to ensure email delivery.

Email service providers use a variety of automated tools to cut-down the quantity of spam for their users, and some of those tools on which we all depend are real-time blackhole lists (RBL), also known as blacklists. Once email servers get on those lists, it can be difficult to get off, and in the meantime, messages sent to other email service providers who rely on those particular blacklists may be bounced.

When you subscribe to any email server provider like Cloudiance zMailCloud, you're joining a community. We serve thousands of businesses, and many of them rely on the same cloud of outbound systems to send email. If you allow one of your mailboxes to be compromised by a spammer, you're not only risking your own service, but at least temporarily, may impact the service of many other businesses, and thousands of individuals.

So, yes, we take spam very seriously. Please use good passwords, or multi-factor authentication, and do not send out bulk unsolicited email to anyone.

For instance, we are part of The Outlook.com Smart Network Data Services (SNDS), which gives us the data we need to understand and improve our collective email-sender reputation at Outlook.com (aka Microsoft). We receive email received by Outlook.com that their users label as spam, and in the case where we verify our customers have sent spam either purposefully, or because their mailbox is compromised, we will act to shutdown our customer's mailbox first, and ask questions later, to protect our reputation, and that of all of our customers'.

We have automated, active compromise detection when mailboxes are used to send spam, and when you enable this service, we can shut down email delivery before even a single spam gets delivered. See our Reputation Protection service, which also includes anti-phishing (URL re-write) services.
