Restoring recently deleted items

Sometimes we accidentally delete our own mail. It happens. It happened to one of our team while his phone was in his pocket. It happens to most people, at one time or another. When it happens to you: don't panic. Instead, use your web browser to open your web client, and visit your Trash.

If you control, or right-click on the trash, you'll receive a submenu from which you may select one or more recently deleted items: Recover Deleted Items.

Select the items you'd like to recover, and then use the button at the top of the window to select the destination folder into which you'd like to restore the deleted messages you've selected.

Self-service at its finest? Perhaps not. However, it should work for small numbers of recently deleted items (fewer than about a thousand).

If it's been too long for the deleted messages to be listed here, or there are too many for you to manage, please open a ticket with our support team, and be specific about your request for a restore from backups. We typically keep backups 7 days in zMailCloud, and for Exclusive hosting, going back at least 30 days, and with customers that elect for longer backups, even longer.*

We need to know which mailbox, what date and time (and your time zone) at which to restore, and if practical, which folder or directory, or just to restore the entire mailbox to an earlier time. We may choose instead to restore your entire mailbox to a new mailbox, e.g.: named restore_yourmailbox@yourdomain.com , share the restored mailbox, and have you select and move-over the items that were missing.

*Note that backups are different than KeepSafe archives. KeepSafe archives must be enabled in advance on a per mailbox basis, and from the time they're enabled, they store only all incoming and outgoing email and attachments from the mailbox(es) on which they're enabled. Backups, on the other hand, contain all information, including and not limited to contacts and calendars.
